Brunch at Egg in Williamsburg, Brooklyn

Egg always makes some "Best Brunch" list: see here, here, and here to start. After a late Friday night, we made the Saturday morning subway trip from our apartment to Williamsburg, Brooklyn to this aptly named, super cute spot that serves their eggs organic and local.  We took the "L" train to Bedford, walked over to Egg, waited 30 minutes (not bad for a place with notoriously long waits) and had a great brunch.  If I could eat 10 biscuits from Egg in a row and feel/look fantastic, I would have inhaled 10 of these biscuits. They're that good.

New York's Famous Steakhouse, Peter Luger

As you all know, I'm a sucker for old New York. For Andy's birthday, we went out to one of the city's famous steakhouses, Peter Luger, in operation since 1887 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.  I don't eat red meat very often, maybe once every six months. But I loved every minute of our dinner, from the decor that reminded me of beer halls in Germany, to their famous creamed spinach. A word to the wise-bring cash unless you have your Luger credit card, and call two months ahead to get the reservation time that you want. Download the Uber car service app (possibly the most useful app EVER) onto your iPhone, which will get you over the bridge and back in style. And you will have leftovers!

    Saturday at the Brooklyn Flea

I have to stop leaving on the weekends.  I LOVE weekends in New York.  This past weekend, we decided to cross something off my summer To-Do list and head over to check out the Brooklyn Flea.  I had also read about DuMont restaurant in the northern part of Williamsburg so we did lunch there first.  My beau had a burger that he says is the BEST. HE'S. EVER. HAD. Big words right? He's had his fair share of highly lauded burgers and declared this one the best yet.  We checked various tips through our social media connections and got the amazing crispy artichokes. It was a great lunch in a not-so-polished part of the city, with an awesome outdoor patio.

We then hopped on the G train to the Brooklyn Flea in Fort Greene.  I would have wandered longer if it hadn't been so hot but it's definitely worth a look.  A lot of junk and a few gems-great for crafty types.  Fort Greene is classic Brooklyn with gorgeous brownstones and a fabulous view of the Empire State Building from Fort Greene Park.
