The River Cafe in the Summer

The River Cafe is one of my favorite places in New York, and I wrote about it being a total mood-lifter here.  That post showed the view overlooking an icy East River, but here is a recent summer shot I took. The view, the view! It's unmatched in New York. Did you know Jerry Seinfeld loves eating New Year's Day Brunch at The River Cafe?  Or at least he used to before he had kids.

I woke up this morning on the wrong side of the bed. I woke up later than I wanted to, my camera has a lens error and won't turn on, I had 100 e-mails to return, I'm sick of the city slush, I stubbed my toe...it could have been the beginning of one of those "UGH" kind of days.

But I had booked lunch at The River Cafe in Brooklyn.  I wanted to bring my brother, who goes to NYU, and my longtime beau, Andy.

From the moment we got off the subway & walked through Brooklyn Heights down to the edge of the East River to when we drank our cappuccinos and walked home over the Brooklyn Bridge, it was one of those days that I felt so lucky to live in New York.  I can't think of a better setting than looking out at the bridge, the Statue of Liberty, and the Empire State Building.  Bad day over.
