Only in Paris: Le Bristol

I loved staying at Le Bristol so much. I miss it today. I dream of when we can go back. You can only be in one city when you walk into the lobby: Paris. It is timeless, as fabulous years ago as it will be years from now. If it's a beautiful day, you can eat breakfast in Paris' loveliest hotel garden. You can snuggle up at the bar and people-watch. You can order coffee or tea in the afternoon and be coddled in comfort.

If you don't stay at Le Bristol, please come for breakfast and order le pain perdu or the french toast (I implored readers to do the same in my NatGeo piece). Normally 2-3 bites of pancakes or french toast is enough for me. Not this - I wolfed it down before we started exploring for the day.

The pool is one of the most beautifully set city hotel pools I've seen, on an upper level floor with views of the Eiffel Tower on one side and quintessential Parisian rooftops on the other.

We chose to spend our first two nights at Le Bristol on the Right Bank before moving to our apartment on the Left Bank and it was the smartest decision we made. Even my apartment keys now dangle on a beautiful, heavy Le Bristol keyring - and reminds me every day of this hotel.

Starting your Paris day in the garden is not terrible
