The Peaceful Place des Vosges

While the Tuileries Garden is royally grand, the peaceful Place des Vosges in the heart of the Marais is my favorite place in Paris to settle in on a bench and read a book. Plus, the neighborhood has some of the best shopping and strolling in Paris. Victor Hugo, author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, lived and wrote much of Les Misérables in one of the homes on the park, and it is now a museum you can visit.
