Friday Links to Love & Leaving for Italy

Rocco on the HudsonI'm in the midst of traveling chaos. I leave for Italy this weekend and have been trying to finish all my work from England and other projects before I go. Not totally successful but getting there. Mostly, I just want to walk through the best city in the world and snuggle with my puppy Rocco. I had a very fun lunch with Jill Zarin and her assistant Sarah yesterday at Landmarc at the Time Warner Center. Jill was right when I interviewed her for my Forbes column-the French toast is insane.
Here's a few things I thought were interesting this week:
- You only get 960 Saturdays with your child before they turn 18. By the time they turn 5, you have 680 left. How crazy is that?
- The Mystery of the Flying Laptop from the New York Times: An amusing search for why certain electronics need to be taken out. The 11-inch Macbook Air doesn't but the 13-inch one does? When I was at Heathrow last week, my iPad tested positive for explosives. I REALLY don't know how that happened but gave it a thorough cleaning when I got home. Why aren't iPads taken out?
- USA Today: Hotel Guests Want WiFi Over Anything Else: I can't wait until all hotels GET it. I paid $25 a night for WiFi at one of the hotels I stayed at in London-totally absurd.
- Two Forbes pieces of mine: What Secrets Does a Hotel Butler Keep? Finding Out at the Savoy in London and Healthy Travel: Searching for Wellness on the Road
And a quote that came through my twitter feed: "Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing the monkey bars. You have to let go at some point in order to move on." ~C.S. Lewis
