As part of my Valentine's Day gift, my longtime beau gifted me with tickets to a Blue Note Jazz show back in February. I pass it every time I go to the W. 4th Street subway station and always wanted to go. We didn't make it to that February show, but we just used our tickets for a recent show by a Dizzy Gillespie cover band, the All-Star Big Band.
Blue Note is legendary in the New York jazz world and is known as one of the world's best clubs. Tony Bennett, Charlie Haden, Wynton Marsalis, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Liza Minelli and Dizzy himself have all performed on Blue Note's powerful stage on W. 3rd Street in the heart of Greenwich Village.
You can order dinner, but you will be hitting elbows as the seating area is very cramped. But the music soothes the soul and sitting practically on your neighbor's lap adds to that warm, community feeling that you're experiencing a great New York night together. Reserve in advance, sit back and enjoy a classic New York night.
